G For Godavari

River Godavari is an inseparable phenomenon when we think of the pilgrim town of Bhadrachalam. Almost every Hindu holy place is near some river or water facility. It has been happening since immemorial as our ancestors recognized the importance of water. For bathing and other rituals like Pitrukarmas, the source of water plays a vital role. Godavari River is the second longest one in our country and it enters at Kandakurtha of Nizamabad district in Telangana state. The river flows 1465 km from its place of origin i.e., Traimbakeswar of Nasik, Maharashtra. Early in the morning, the banks of Godavari at Bhadrachalam seem bustling with devotees. Taking holy dips and performing rituals are a common spectacle.

On some festivals, we can witness more rush all along the day. Devotees come from not only Telugu states but from far-off states also. Many languages and dialects are heard at the place. It's also one kind of national integration given spirituality. In the monsoon season, the river becomes torrential and one should be very careful. The rest of the days, it's okay with swimming, however taking care is of utmost importance since casualties are heard every year. Evenings and mornings at the river are worth being and the serenity we feel by watching the sun on the horizon is the best moment ever have.
